My story
I’m Laura – a down-to-earth graphic and brand designer, inspired by the great outdoors. I’ve created unique brand identities and strategic graphic design from my base in North Wales for 15+ years. In fact, design and marketing is all I’ve ever done professionally, so you’re in good hands.

The journey to creative freedom
I set up Laura Hodgkinson Creative in 2011 and alongside this, I worked as a Graphic Designer in the marketing department of Clogau. Though this work gave me a unique insight into the marketing world, it didn’t allow me to unleash my true creative potential – an outlet I got through working with my own clients.
Then, in 2020 (that monumental year) I made the leap and turned my side business into my full-time focus and never looked back.
Since then, I’ve worked with so many passionate people on a variety of creative projects; guidebooks, pop-up stands, map illustrations, website designs, high-spec prints, and so much more. My desk is home to a little selection of design awards I’ve been lucky enough to receive.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with brands both big and small, including book design for Wales Coast Path/Natural Resources Wales, map illustration for Denbighshire Leisure, and packaging design for FYX Water. I’ve also been honoured to help small local businesses make their mark, such as Tu Mundo, Bodrhyddan Hall, The Trainer Container, and Sior Shepherd’s hut. Have a gander at my portfolio for more.
The most important things
Honesty – building lasting relationships with the people I work with by being transparent, open and approachable.
Creativity – not paying too much attention to temporary trends and never-ending noise. Using illustration where suitable for a human-made touch in a digital world.
The great outdoors – we all need this and I can’t say enough about how important this has been for my creativity and inspiration.
I thrive on helping people bring their brands to life, seeing ideas become reality, and making design instantly recognisable.
And I know that creativity just doesn’t come from sitting at a desk all day.
I’m lucky enough to live on the edge of the Clwydian Range in North Wales and draw endless inspiration from my surroundings. My adventures have inspired me even beyond graphic design and into the world of outdoor writing – Top 10 Walks in the Brecon Beacons was published by Northern Eye Books in 2022.
Making time for dog walks, trail running, climbing mountains, and spontaneous campervan trips provides a change of scenery and endless inspiration.
